Upcoming Free Artificial Limbs (legs) and Polio Calipers camp in Chandigarh to be held from 3rd to 8th December  

Max India Foundation (MIF) in assistance with Manav Seva Sannidhi is organizing a weeklong camp at Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Charitable Eye Hospital Trust, Gurudwara Akal Ashram, Sohana, Sector 77 (Mohali) SAS Nagar to provide Artificial Limbs (legs), Polio Calipers and Crutches to disabled. The patient after registration would be assessed for the requirement of assistive devices. After taking the measurements, devices would be prepared. The patient would then be made to practice walking with the new assistive devices. We have made arrangements for food and stay for the patient and attendant at the venue itself.

January to March 2008

Free Artificial Limbs and Polio Calipers – 3rd to 11th January 2008 

Max India Foundation works with their partner NGO, Manav Seva Sannidhi to provide Free Artificial Limbs and Polio Calipers to people with disability. There was a Camp conducted at Valsad from 3rd to 11th January 2008 to provide Free Artificial Limbs and Polio Calipers.

750 patients were treated in this camp. They came from all across India. Patients were encouraged and advised to stay until they felt confident of walking. Those patients who came crawling, left walking.

 

Adoption of local Government high school at Rail Majra – 16th January 2008

Max India Foundation through Max Speciality Products has adopted the local Government high school at Rail Majra Village near Ropar, Punjab

.Apart from providing books, stationery and clothes to the children, extra coaching classes for the students of class X Punjab School Education Board has also been organized. In addition a glass of milk and a snack is being provided to the 38 students.

 
Can Support & Max Healthcare – 23rd January 2008
Max India Foundation has partnered with CanSupport to offer palliative care to advanced Cancer patients
To spread awareness about Cancer, a Breast Cancer awareness camp was organized at Jesus and Mary College on 23rd January 2008. Dr. Vedant Kabra from Max Hospital gave an informative talk. The students participated enthusiastically in the interactive session that followed
 

Inauguration of Health Centre at village Rail Majra - 1st February 2008

A health Centre was set up and inaugurated on 1st February 2008 at village Rail Majra to cater to the local residents of the village. Doctors consultation and required medicines in the Health Centre will be provided free of costs.

The residents of the villages nearby and the School Children will be given talks on basic hygiene, health related issues and awareness of a good healthy environment.

 
Sports Day event for the Government High School, Rail Majra - 1st February 2008
A Sports Day event for the Government High School, Rail Majra was organized on 1st February 2008 , wherein the enthusiastic students participated in various sports activities. The sports activities were followed by a Prize distribution ceremony to encourage the children. The prizes were sponsored by Max India Foundation.

Apart from this, a talk on Cancer as a health awareness programme was conducted on the same occasion.

 
Healthcare for a 3 year old Vikram an underprivileged Child
Max India Foundation has helped severely ill children regain normal lives by treating them through Max Healthcare and its team of dedicated doctors.
Vikram, son of washer-man from Gurgaon had been suffering from a hole in the heart and related problems.
Max India Foundation facilitated his operation at Max Heart and Vascular Institute at Saket.

The Friday Fraternity Event - 16th May 2008
Max India Foundation organized the second Friday Fraternity Event, which addressed the issue of ‘Anger and Anger Management’, on 16th May’ 08, at Max Super Specialty Hospital Saket, at 06:30 pm. It was in continuation to our first Friday Fraternity Event, which emphasized on growing concern of ‘Violence among Children’. Anger in society is a great pressure building zone today, being manifest by one and all. We portrayed the need and methodology for Anger Management through mediums like a Street Play by NGO, “JAMGHAT-A Group of Street Children”, a Talk by renowned Psychiatrist Dr.Samir Parikh and Theatre Readings by First City Theatre Foundation. According to us, this issue merits immediate attention for overall health and development for society.

 
STARZ- Music 4 Kids by Kids - 21st May 2008
The event ‘STARZ- Music 4 Kids by Kids’, a fund raising event was organized by SOS Children’s Villages of India on 21st May at Kamani Auditorium. Max India Foundation was the main sponsor of the event. Young, brilliant 13 year old Ms. Tara L Venkatesan Soprano performed brilliantly and won hearts of all. The dignitaries like Former President of India, Mr. Venkataraman and Smt. Mrs. Meira Kumar, Hon’ble Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment also graced the occasion. The proceeds will go for sponsoring 100 children in their villages.
 
 

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY - 5th June 2008
World Environment Day was given great importance and celebrated by Max India Foundation at different locations, across the MAX Group of Companies.

 

Max Specialty Products, Chandigarh
World Environment Day was celebrated by Max Specialty Products, Chandigarh  personnel in their factory premises and the Govt. High School, Rail Majra adopted by Max India Foundation through them. They have done commendable work in this regard. Tree plantation was done with protective tree guards in the Govt. High School by the Principal and school children. Children were motivated to ensure survival of ‘their’ plants & being rewarded for the same. To honor the significance of the day, all the employees wore “Kick the Carbon Habit”. Mr. PK Kaushik, Chief Operating Officer (Maxfoil Division), Mr. KC Sokhey, Mr. PS Sohal, members of Safety Committee and Mr. SP Bansal also attended the programe and planted saplings. Plantation was conducted in the factory premises too by Heads of Departments, members of Safety Committee and different groups of Workmen. An informative & interactive session was organized in the canteen educating the audience of the significance of World Environment Day and consequences of global warming. Saplings were distributed to all employees for planting in their residential areas. A Slogan Writing and Poster Designing competition on environment was organized for all employees. 

 

Max House - 26th June 2008
Max India Foundation organized the screening of Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” on 26th June 08 at Max House. Partner NGO Jamghat performed a very enjoyable Street Play on the environment, first conceptualized for W.H.O which spelt the message of ensuring a healthy environment loud and clear. A token of plantation of ‘Max’ Orange Hibiscus plants were made. The same were presented to the different hospitals.

 
Inauguration of Can Support East Delhi Field Centre - 21st May 2008
Max India Foundation has sponsored a Field Centre at East Delhi for its partner NGO CanSupport to provide palliative care to patients and their families struggling with Cancer. This East Delhi Field Centre was inaugurated on 21st May and will anchor two home based Palliative Care Teams. MIF will be sponsoring the entire cost of running this centre including doctors and nurses’ salaries, transportation medicines, etc. Dr. Bobby Anand, Medical Superintendent Max Hospital, Patparganj, Dr. Vedant Kabra, Consultant, Surgical Oncologist and Dr. Amit Bhargava, Consultant, Medical Oncologist also attended the inauguration.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

 

 

  Walk for Life- Breast Cancer Awareness Event - 10th February 2008
 
MIF has contributed to the Global Cancer Control Mission through sponsorship, support and participation in our partner NGO, Can Support’s Inaugural “Walk for Life- Stride against Breast Cancer” held on 10th February’ 2008, New Delhi. This was organised to raise awareness on the increasing incidence of Breast Cancer, a global challenge. MIF co-sponsored the event and provided 3 teams, each consisting of a doctor, nurse for emergency healthcare with an ambulance for the event. Max Healthcare Hospitals were pivotal points for registration and information.
   
 

Prevention and Management of Cardiovascular Diseases – 4th March 2008

 

There was an event organized for all the employees of Max House on the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases.
Dr. Pramod Kumar , Senior cardiologist from Max Hospital conducted the educative session.

   
  Health Workshop, Govindpuri Slum -
12th March’2008
 
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Max India Foundation in a joint initiative with the NGO ‘Katha’ had organized a Health Workshop on Women’s Health Issues, for the women of Govind Puri slum cluster. The topics addressed at the workshop were primarily Women’s health Issues, Environment & living conditions.
 
The session was presided over by Ms. Mohini Daljeet Singh, Head Max India Foundation, who shared informative ideas & gave valuable suggestions to the participating audience about basic hygiene and a healthy environment. A lecture by Dr. Charu Gupta, Senior Resident, Obs & Gynae, Max Super Specialty Hospital Saket was given to the ladies stressing on occurrence and prevention of various health problems being faced by women and how to deal with them. She answered questions put to her and examined some of the patients.
   
 

Free Artificial Limbs and Polio Calipers – 14th to 18th March 2008

 

Partner NGO, Manav Seva Sannidhi organized an artificial limbs and Polio Calipers Camp at Rishikesh.  250 patients were given artificial limbs free of cost.

   
  The Friday Fraternity Event - 28th March 2008
 

Max India Foundation had organized a “Friday Fraternity Event” on 28th March’ 2008 at Max Super Specialty Hospital, Saket. The Friday Fraternity is a gathering of socially conscious citizens who have made a difference in their respective fields of activity. The Event was organized to primarily address and create awareness on the growing concern of ‘VIOLENCE AMONG CHILDREN’. The issue was addressed through a play, “Child Looks” prepared by Pandies Theatre and children from Saksham School, Nithari village. The play was an attempt to demonstrate how children acquire violent attitudes during the formative years of their lives.

 
This was followed by a Panel Discussion, with eminent personalities and experts discussing the causes and impact of Violence on Children. The panelists shared their diverse experience on the subject and stressed on the need to address this issue. The Panel Discussion was moderated by Ms. Mohini D Singh, Head Max India Foundation.

  Inauguration of JAMGHAT Health & Day Care Centre - 23rd May 2008
 
Max India Foundation has partnered with NGO, ‘JAMGHAT – a Group of Street Children’ and sponsored a Health & Day Care Centre in the Jama Masjid Area. The centre was inaugurated on 23rd May. A pediatrician from Max Healthcare will be visiting the area twice a month for health check ups of the street children. This centre will also be a hub for rehabilitation of these street children, and will be used to impart Vocational Training, Life Skills and give them toilet and bathing facilities. Dr. Arvind Taneja, Senior Consultant Pediatrics, Director & Chief, MSSH and Dr. Gaurav Nagar also attended.
 
   
 

Max Pitampura
World Environment Day was celebrated at Max Hospital, Pitampura with great enthusiasm. There were a number of activities planned for the day inviting enthusiastic participation by the personnel. A Quiz Competition on Environment with 42 contestants and a Painting competition which was thoroughly enjoyed by 28 participants were organized. The creativity & spirit of participation of enthusiastic people was evident in the informative, innovative posters. The First Issue of monthly E-Newsletter, “Paryavaran Mitra” was circulated across departments. This Newsletter will be addressing issues of Environment, climate changes and other Macro & Micro issues. It highlights Slogan of the year. “Kick the Habit! Towards a low Carbon Economy!” All were invited to screening of a movie- ‘An inconvenient Truth’ on Environment Deterioration, which was appreciated by all.
The highlight was an Award Distribution ceremony to felicitate the immense hard work & contribution of those involved towards Environment Management ISO – 14001, making it the First Max ‘Green Hospital’.  This was attended by Dr. Perwez Ahmed- Executive Director-Medical Operations, Max Hospital Saket, Dr. Sanjiv Malik- Regional Director, Max Hospital Pitampura, Dr. Mukesh Shivdasani- Executive Director, Operations, Max Hospital Saket and other dignitaries. The efforts put in by Dr. HP Singh- Chief, Clinical Operations, Max Hospital Pitampura & Dr. Ravi Shankar- Asst. Medical Superintendent, Max Hospital Pitampura and their team was highly commended. 

 
 

Immunisation Program the first Pan India Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Max New York Life Insurance Co Ltd
Immunisation Program the first Pan India Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Max New York Life Insurance Co Ltd. This is being conducted in association with Max India Foundation and in partnership with NGO SOS Children's Villages of India Outreach Program. The Immunisation drive is aimed at providing immunisation to 100 underprivileged children aged between 0-12 years, in each SOS Outreach Program location in India. The vaccines being administered for the program are BCG, Hepatitis B, DPT- Diptheria, Polio, Tetanus, Oral Polio Vaccine, Measles Vaccine, MMR- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Typhoid Fever and DT- Diptheria, Tetanus. The SOS Outreach Program villages where Immunisation Camps have been conducted till now are Anangpur, Gandhidham, Rourkela, Bawana, Bhopal, Vizag, Varanasi, Bangalore, Pune, Guwahati, Rajpura and Jammu.

   
  Chandigarh Health Camp - 18th and 19th Oct 2008
 

Max India Foundation organized a Health Camp at Colony No. 5 Slum Cluster, Sector 50, Chandigarh on 18th and 19th Oct, 2008. The support offered by Max New York Life Insurance, Max Healthcare, Max Specialty Products, and Max Health Staff was commendable.

The doctors from Max Healthcare put in a sincere and dedicated effort. They are:

a Dr Renu Sehgal - Gynaecologist (MSSH, Saket)
b.Dr. Jay Kirtani   - Internal Medicine (Medcentre, Panchsheel)
c.Dr. Anshuman Kaushal – General Surgery (Max Hospital, Gurgaon)

The response was overwhelming. Over 900 patients were checked and given free medicines. Trainee Nurses from Max HealthStaff gave talks on general health and hygiene and helped the doctors.

The synergy that was evident because of the camaraderie between all present made the camp the success that it was.
